BLUE Stephanie Green (On stained glass by Emily Willis, Edinburgh College of Art, 2005.) What I like about you is your transparency. I can see through you. It's a long view: look how the wind describes circles with willow branches in the river, punctured by rain pebbles, rings within rings. I cannot tell what is inside or out.
Yet I am more concerned with the interrupted view. That's where the light is: the scratched, etched, painted surface, and the opaque blue at your heart.
First published in 'Glass Works' (Cat's Pyjamas Publications, 2005) and also in the anthology 'Skein of Geese' (The Shed Press, 2008).

held at Manchester City Library . In a fast paced world it is all too easy for life to become fragmented and compartmentalised. This anthology, however, celebrates an alternative vision that can exist alongside or even between the cracks, a vision that emerges whenever we take time or are arrested by particular moments that help weave a narrative through the fragments so that we connect, ‘only connect’. Only Connect published by Cinnamon Press at £7.99 can also be purchased on their website.
